Alsim Alarko Sanayi Tesisleri ve Ticaret A.Ş. was founded in 1954. Alarko is a leading conglomerate in Turkey with a vast focus on contracting, construction and infrastructure projects. The company is highly active in Turkey and the neighboring regions with numerous infrastructure projects including metros, energy power plant constructions, highways, airports, railways and real estate projects. In addition to the Company’s experience in the infrastructure space, Alarko is familiar with the Kazakhstani infrastructure market through undertaking Aktau-Manasha road rehabilitation project. Alarko’s other significant projects include Ankara-Istanbul high speed railway, Boryspil International Airport in Kiev and various metro rail system lines in Istanbul. Among others, the following projects were completed in Kazakhstan:

- Water distribution and sewage system in Nur-Sultan,
- Suspension bridge in Semei,
- Atyrau-Aqtau road rehabilitation,

KEC

In line with the company’s experience in expressways construction, KEC also offers maintenance services such as routine maintenance, periodic maintenance, emergency responses and road, facility and structure rehabilitation. Following its local success, KEC initiated to participate in global expressway projects and currently has operations in Asia, Latin America and the USA. The Turkish-Korean Consortium consisting of Alsim Alarko Sanayi Tesisleri ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Alsim Alarko), SK ecoplant Co., Ltd. (SK), Makyol İnşaat Sanayi Turizm ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Makyol) and Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) have established the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – BAKAD Investment and Operation Limited Liability Partnership – in Almaty Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan to carry out any kinds of activities related to:
- Development, financing, engineering, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the “Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD)” Project,
- Exercising the rights vested to and fulfillment of the obligations assumed under the Concession Agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
- Fulfilling the commitments under the debt financing terms and conditions.

BARR Operation and Maintenance LLP was founded in 2022 for the purpose of operating and maintaining the BAKAD road. Korean-Turkish Consortium consisting of Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC), Alsim Alarko Sanayi Tesisleri ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Alsim Alarko), Makyol İnşaat Sanayi Turizm ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Makyol) and SK ecoplant Co., Ltd. (SK) is the shareholder of BARR Operation and Maintenance LLP.
Since the BAKAD road opened on 16.06.2023, BARR Operation and Maintenance LLP has been working on Toll operation, maintenance, traffic management, snow removing and all related to BAKAD road.
